Simplicity is Magical…

It is like the innocence of  a child

but sees everything…

This week has been filled with wonder… BIG smile… My family and I took an unplanned trip down to the shore in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. I am glad we did, especially because one of MY HAPPY PLACES is the beach… The Point in Old Saybrook offered more than I imagined… Here in my state, I am familiar with seeing near the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, plenty of large stones you can literally rest upon, lighthouses, large and small boats of different makes and models, seagulls sauntering across the sand or somewhere in site, if they are not flying overhead, a variety of seashells and pebbles washed up on the shore and within the shallow parts of water, gorgeous family homes and guest houses and other wild life, treasures and keepsakes… But it is the beach alone, mostly its landscape, that most amazes me… The beach’s natural landscape has a way of taking me into it… I then feel as though I have entered into a new world offering me fresh air and life… A world that effortlessly quiets and softens me… and renders added serenity to my mind, body, heart, soul and spirit…

When my family and I arrived at the Point in Old Saybrook, shortly after getting out the car, a rabbit appeared before us… It was such a pleasant surprise, I couldn’t help but grin… I mostly smiled, because I’ve been spotting rabbits more often than not since spring… I am not superstitious, but I believe in magic, synchronicity, happenstance and in angels… I love how the Universe and life itself regularly communicate with me through organic occurrences and through harmonious, balanced and healthy beings… I won’t associate anything specific with rabbits, yet seeing them brings a sparkle to my eyes and soul… It is similar for me when I see butterflies, hummingbirds, and truthfully, most other natural creations in our world… I am, indeed, more in awe when appearances happen at times I am least expecting… Like the moment I saw the rabbit… and the moment I came upon the gathering of swans during my walk across the bridge toward another area of the shore… The swans’ presence in the water, amidst the golden glitters of the sun was another splendid sight… I had no idea I would see them… I felt such appreciation when I did…

I have seen swans before… I have seen rabbits, butterflies, hummingbirds, seagulls, frogs, turtles, seashells, beautifully shaped and colored pebbles/stones, the artful movements of grass when tempered by the wind, the sun’s dance reflected above and upon the surface of water and upon other natural landscapes… And I have seen so many other intriguing creations of God… Nonetheless, I have learned to see and experience them all as if it were my very first time… with a new mind and new eyes… Just as I did while witnessing the rabbit and its behavior and movements… Just as I did while witnessing the design, details and beauty of each flower I photographed… Just as I did while witnessing the imagery, sound, feel, touch and smell of the water, both consciously and unconsciously… and so on… Whether my thoughts are still or in motion, and/or my eyes are open or closed… I am intuitively aware of my integral part in and intimate connection to God’s magnificent work… The magic of simplicity… We try in every way we know to describe such magnificence… such simplicity… visually, verbally and within written language, etc… I’ve learned that the best way to become familiar with such magnificence… such simplicity… is by being simple ourselves… and by being new in every experience…

We have the capacity and potential to always be a blessing in our own lives, in the lives of others and in this magical and magnificent world of ours…
