Serving A Cup Of Tea…

It’s pretty known by others… I love a warm, aromatic and delightfully flavored cup of tea… I have a cup or two of tea almost every day… Usually, I enjoy my tea soon after brunch and subsequent to dinner… I may’ve had a favorite tea at times in my life… today, I simply cherish preparing a tea that compliments either my present mood or the mood I would like to be in… and, once again, a well flavored cup of tea to go with my meal is quite satisfying… Are you aware… the color of tea once steeped can positively stimulate one’s emotions… I find this to be interesting… Albeit, I haven’t extensively studied color therapy… I have found my actual feelings can and do change when I see a particular color… especially when accompanied by a pleasing smell…

I am delighted by many kinds of beverages… Yet, tea has become a staple and decorative drink in my home… It too is a familiar drink in many circles… creating commonality across cultures… It is a reputable beverage known for bringing people in almost, if not, all walks of life together… Tea by itself gives us a purpose to gather and create community… It is a beverage reminding us too of the benefits of our senses… the way textures, scents, tones and tastes help to create an inclusive experience… The experience of tea drinking is elevating and grounding… in that it truly does incorporate within the overall experience the spiritual… mental… emotional… and physical attributes…

Tea ceremonies are such a treasure… I am fascinated, first and foremost, by the multitude of blends and flavors I learn about… These blends can include herbs, spices, fruits and plant seeds, grains, nuts, barks, stems of the flowering teas and the flowers themselves… I’ve had teas that also included various candies, marshmallows, chocolate chunks or pieces and almost any other ingredients presenting the most exclusive tea bouquets… During a tea ceremony I have also learned the history of teas and traditions associated with the different kinds of tisanes… red… green… white… black… herbal, etc.. There are teas served during only certain times of the day… because of their cooling or warming affects… because of their invigorating or relaxing affects… Although, I should probably pay attention to this, I know there are a lot of benefits to doing so, I don’t always choose my brunch and dinner teas by the benefits offered… Sometimes, I plainly have a taste for a specific kind of tea…

Have you ever just hugged a warm cup of tea in your hands… It’s, for me, an exceptionally pleasing and sensational encounter… It’s a welcoming experience… that deeply warms my heart through simply engaging my hands… And when I close my eyes… my experience becomes a beautifully meditative sojourn leading me into the peace present within my own heart, mind and body… I’ve partaken of tea with many different people, of various tribes and cultures, yet I’ve learned most of my tea ceremony sipping etiquettes from Chinese hosts… Learning how to prepare teas is an important part of a ceremony. Nonetheless, knowing the properties of teas and how teas have been used… or what they’ve been used for is as valuable as the experience of preparing the various types of teas… I’ve as well learned it is very important to ensure tea is served warm rather than hot… When tea is warm it creates for us an opportunity to more thoroughly enjoy its aroma and actual flavor(s)… It also allows us to more deeply enjoy the warming sensations of a liquid elixir meant to intoxicate us holistically… moving us further into a euphoric state of being…

Drinking tea solo or alone can be a celebratory act… There’s no specific occasion required for the preparation, serving and drinking of tea, yet… it’s a special time when I get to serve myself a warm, aromatic and heavenly cup of tea… and too serve an enticing cup of tea to others… It will be such gratification to have tea again in a space with more of us… where we find pleasure not only in partaking of a beverage made to soothe our souls… but where we find pleasure in the simple act of coming together to gain further joy from prospering our own lives and the lives of others… May I serve you a cup of tea…

I hope to see you soon at one or more of The Gathering of Daughters Tea Time affairs… Whether together virtually or physically… our times together will be good times to remember and to cherish… RSVP invitations will be via The Gathering of Daughters official page… Do you have a tea of choice… BIG SMILE…
