We are here… in the seasons to be thankful and merry… I look forward to the autumn and fall seasons… During these more inward times of the year, it seems we are inspired to think deeper about our lives, while also considering the lives of others… What should we prepare for family and friends for our holiday brunches and dinners… What kinds of gifts will please them… How can I give more of myself not just to myself but to the people I adore… I love being more conscious about what’s important to me… and for some good reason, it really makes me feel pretty awesome when I consider what’s important to the individuals in my life… What urges them to smile… What gets them to laugh… What inspires them to become more aware of their own relevance… their own natures and qualities of being… What compels them to give from their own hearts and unconditionally… This last sentence causes me to ask too, what compels me to give from my own heart and unconditionally… Perhaps, this is a question we all should ask ourselves not just during the holidays, but during all times of the year… However, the autumn and winter holidays are upon us now, so what are you serving and/or giving during these holidays…

I’ve been knitting a lot more during these cooler months, since first learning and developing this skill almost 3 years ago… Knitting, along with crocheting and weaving, is a craft I have fallen in love with… At present, I’m putting my skills to work by creating fabrics, clothing and accessories for my exclusive collections… My debut signature knit collection was a joy to create… I appreciated coming up with new design ideas and seeing them come forth within my own hands… It was also a thrill to first show my debut creations to my family. Getting their feedback is always helpful… Also, they get to add one of my pieces made just for them to their wardrobes before anyone else… Therefore, when I decided to create more timeless head accessory pieces known to many as… beanies… during this holiday season, I made sure my family got their beanies first…

I’m not sure when I started to love beanies… short ones, long ones, slouchy ones… I guess it doesn’t really matter when… They’ve not gone out of style since coming into style… at least in my wardrobe… I love dressing them up, wearing them casually and lounging in them while home… They are such comfortable and versatile head accessories… Within my style repertoire beanies look good with an evening dress, a sophisticated pants suit, with a mini, midi or maxi skirt, with fitted or loose jeans, with gym wear and pretty much any other clothing I happen to have… I own several kinds of hats and really love them all, yet it seems I’ve favored my beanies most over the last several years… It’s not that my other hats aren’t comfortable or versatile, it’s just that beanies are a bit more universal… They cross cultures and have given further depth to various kinds of dress… They have their own multi-cultural appeal… They have a way of making a statement either subtly or boldly… They will either get you to look twice or more or may not get your attention at all… Both are good… Sometimes we like the additional colors of our lives being noticed… other times we prefer to plainly blend in with the rest of this glorious life scheme… With this in mind… and in heart… I thought I would create styles of beanies that anyone and everyone would love… for whatever occasion one chooses…

Wouldn’t you love to have a timeless head accessory like a plant based beanie… one or more that captures not just your own eyes, but at times the eyes of others too… Not just any kind or style of beanie, but a beanie that is made by hand… hand-spun and hand-dyed by artisans who happen to absolutely adore working with Nature’s organic plants… making them into natural fibers… natural threads… natural yarns… and natural fabrics… It’s such an awe-inspiring and refreshing experience to witness the hands on transformations of plants found in our natural world… To see the magic that happens once natural plant life and natural minerals are combined… the textures… the colors… the creations that come forth… I am truly inspired by this kind of artistic endeavor… So much so I’ve chosen to make all of my current and forth coming exclusive fabrics, clothing and head accessories using organic, plant based fibers… There’s one thing I had to learn how to do though, before I could create some of my specialty fabrics, clothing and head accessories for myself… for my family and friends… and for you… I had to learn how to make cake… Yarn cake… BIG SMILE…

Okay, so I got my initial skein of 100% organic silk yarn all tangled up while using it to make my first silk beanie… Yeah, my mentors tried to get the message to me… that I had to turn my new skeins into yarn balls or cakes before using them… Yet, I had my mind so focused on making my beanies, I missed the first step in my production process… I found out how important the first step was once I started untangling my silk yarn skein… It took a little time… enough time to cause me to remember never to skip the first step again… Who’d have ever thought I would be making cakes with yarn… It was indeed a new endeavor for me, but one I grew to enjoy… I’m a foodie who absolutely loves delightful foods and beverages… I love making foods and beverages just as much as I enjoy serving them and eating/drinking them… So when I learned how to make cake using yarn… and I was able to see how amazingly beautiful these cakes are once the yarn is meticulously spun around a spool… I couldn’t wait to turn all of my new, organic, plant based skeins into aesthetically decorative and colorful cakes… just so I could serve to you beanies to wear… and to, again, love… BIGGER SMILE…
