Travel is such a great pleasure. There are myriad ways to travel, nonetheless, by road is one of my favorites. When traveling by automobile I can take my time, take in the scenic views and, of course, take pictures. Some of my road trippin’ photos are those I cherish. They are images of places that inspired me to pull over on the road and to remember as places I would enjoy visiting again. They are also images that created occasions for me to gather with others, familiar and not so familiar. When with either company the experience becomes much more fun.

In my recent years I am more grateful for spontaneous moments. The trips that are partly planned or completely unplanned. Travel that has no particular place in mind, but is the perfect place to be when I arrive. During these times I appreciate the freedom to simply live and adventure, to try something or somewhere different, including places I’ve not been before. I’ve also had deeply enjoyable travels when my day is totally planned and I fulfill my wishes for the day. To live in either way, to have a day or week or year, planned, partially planned or completely unplanned is truly a gift.

In the earlier years of my life I traveled more so than not alone. I loved the independence I had and the time to be with myself. Having time with just myself let me know more about what sincerely brought me joy. It also let me explore many more aspects of life as it related to my own perceptions, but more importantly it opened me up to new perspectives. I am grateful for these years, for they showed me the value of living both intentionally and without a completely definitive perspective of myself, others and whatever else. Theses years also increased my appreciation for family and friends.

Travel with my family and friends has been quite rewarding and memorable. I don’t talk to and laugh at myself as much. I still laugh at myself often, but being in conversation with myself has slightly decreased. When others are in the car with me interesting discussions are made, as well silence sometimes becomes our most intriguing inaudible dialogue. There is always lots to explore with one’s self, yet with others there’s even more. With others life can be seen from a number of vantage points, especially when we all are seated in different places in our automobile. “So, what’s the view like back there…”

What is genuinely meant by “in the pursuit of happiness…” I will not answer this for others. I will not at this time answer it totally for myself, nonetheless, as much as I love to road trip, whether with myself, with my relatives and/or close friends, as much as I greatly appreciate the joy I experience due to nature’s scenery, the place I honestly love, more than any other place, is where I am, a place I would choose again and again.

We have the capacity and potential to always be a blessing in our own lives, in the lives of others and in this magical and magnificent world of ours…
