A happy, unexpected occurrence… The new plant based, exclusive and chic, classic and colorful, earth friendly and stylish, hand-knit infinity collar. Those of you who have been reading my blogs, visiting my web site and following my social media pages have seen my first collection of hand-knit, big loop infinity collars. I started my first signature collection of knit creations in the fall/winter of 2018/2019. For the holidays, I wanted something personal and special to gift to my relatives. Since I’d started making my exclusive, chic and sustainable hand-knit, big loop beanie hats, I thought they would pair well with matching hand-knit, big loop infinity scarves and collars. I loved my big loop infinity scarves and collars so much I decided they would make the perfect accessories to add to my DANA RONDEL Signature Collection and, of course, they were perfect gifts for family and friends.

When I began the DANA RONDEL Signature Collection my intention was to focus on creating plant based, earth friendly fashion. After some time and research I learned about yarns that aligned with my vision and would materialize my concepts. Plant based, hand-knit, exclusive and chic, classic and colorful, earth friendly and stylish and quite versatile beanie hats grew my second signature collection. And plant based, hand-knit, exclusive and chic, classic and colorful, earth friendly and stylish and quite versatile infinity collars joined my second edition of beanie hats. Some of my infinity collars match my hats, some do not, yet my beanie hats and infinity collars beautifully compliment each other whether they match or not. The infinity collar works within the concept of creative contrast, pairing opposite or dissimilar colors, etc. or with similar and same color combinations. You’ll see this within the images I’ve shared. However you style your beanie hat and/or infinity collar, you’ll love the look on YOU.

I did a show and tell with my hand-knit, 100% raw silk, 100% organic cotton and earth friendly bamboo and cotton blend beanie hats and infinity collars by dressing up in them. The camera lens became my mirror and I styled and profiled (lived out my own internal and external essence and beauty) for the looking glass that would capture me in my signature styles and new compositions. Although, it was important I capture several appealing presentations of my second collection of beanie hats and infinity collars to share with others, I wanted my time in front of the looking glass (the camera lens) to be FREE and FUN. That’s what art and fashion are for me… FREE and FUN.

I have always taken great care in putting together an outfit and dressing since a young girl. I learned to dress well by watching others and learned to exercise freedom of choice with my attire as I was learning to honor and celebrate my own independence. Today, as a woman, I still love putting together a creative ensemble of clothing and accessories. There are times when I take great care in doing so… Other times, I simply enjoy the spontaneity and improvisation in this artistic act. Dressing up, informally or formally.. or dressing down, casually, summons from our minds and hearts, at least some inspiration and imagination.

Creativity is an expression of self. The expression of creative contrast is an idea or concept that can be brought to life through artistic means. The idea or concept of creative contrast came to me as I thought about the fun in placing together patterns, designs, colors and clothing that perhaps, might not’ve been put together, but are and work. There’s so much joy, freedom and fun in moving through life… as well as through my spaces of clothing and accessories, worlds of their own, spontaneously, with no preconceptions of what I will choose. As I improvise in life, and/or in my spaces of clothing and accessories, concepts come. Ensembles are brought together. My compositions are then ready for their purposes for the moments in my day… for the camera… for a purpose that is for me purposeful.

Within the remaining parts of this written piece, I will share some of the creative contrast concepts that came to me as I put together ensembles that included my plant based, hand-knit, exclusive and chic, classic and colorful, earth friendly and stylish and quite versatile beanie hats and/or infinity collars. Did I already say, I absolutely love my second DANA RONDEL Signature Collection of plant based accessories. In one of my previous blogs, MAKE IT A HATTY… HAPPY DAY, post date 12/31/21, I introduced some of my latest beanie hats in my new collection. Now, I’m sharing my most recent, plant based, hand-knit infinity collars. I hope you LOVE them as much as I do… They are indeed a happy, unexpected occurrence… within the concepts of spontaneity, improvisation, creative contrast… made to express the idea to be FREE and FUN… BIG SMILE.

I HAVE A CONFESSION: I left this out of this post initially, but my family and friends thought I should include this confession since it’s quite funny. I’ve loved turtlenecks since I was young. They have been part of my wardrobe most of my life. I have also loved “cow necks.” I’ve owned a few or more ”cow neck” clothing probably since my twenties. In my thirties, or maybe my forties, I started to wonder why ”cow necks” are called “cow necks.” I’ve looked at a cow’s neck on more than one occasion. I could see why a looser, more drapey neckline of a turtleneck can be called a ”cow neck.” So, I kept calling the wider necklines of my clothing “cow necks,” and no one ever corrected me. Then I became interested in making “neck warmers” for my family and friends. When I started watching tutorials on how to hand knit “neck warmers” with different knit designs and patterns, I learned one style of neck warmers is called, cowl neck warmer. I had to laugh at myself when I learned I was actually wearing a cowl neck and not a ”cow neck” over the last twenty years or more. BIGGER LAUGH.

The neck cowl or ”neck cow” is what inspired my design of the “neck dress” for necks called, the infinity collar for the DANA RONDEL Signature Collection. BIG SMILE.

We have the capacity and potential to always be a blessing in our own lives, in the lives of others and in this magical and magnificent world of ours…
