It’s spring. The weather has been perfect and there are more colors in life to enjoy. When out walking I see many new spring florals beginning to bloom while some are already in their full bloom. There are many varieties of flowers which increases the palette of colors we now see in our landscapes here in New England. It might be the same in several other locations globally. Just as the autumn season gives us a vibrant view to look forward to… spring too does the same.

Botanical gardens and other floral treasures made present to us by neighborhoods, communities, parks, preserves, reserves, forests, garden groups and clubs and more… have been quite an extraordinary sight. I greatly appreciate how landscape artists, with either organic and/or academic approaches, and gardeners gift us each year with different, well prepared and visibly stunning arrangements. I am also thoroughly grateful for the flowers of the wild that allow us their beauty too.

An epicurean’s garden… I am deeply delighted by the versatility of flowers, particularly those we can too enjoy delectably. As a food preparer, maker and stylist, colors, aromas, textures, tastes, designs and presentation(s) all are of value to me. The way a flower blooms, the tones it shares, its smell, its delicateness, its flavors allow for a truly decorative and unforgettable experience. As a gardener I am always excited to see my own garden(s) in bloom. I am especially fulfilled when I get to pick yummy herbs, vegetables, fruits and other eatables out of the soils I’ve planted in.

Spring’s Bountiful Vibrant Flowers… Though spring is usually the season when we first see the soft sprouts of flowers, and summer gives us its full blooms, autumn and winter has their floral gardens too. There are times when these autumn and winter florals are as alive as those we see in the spring and summer seasons. The vibrant hues and varieties that grace our lands, gardens and homes in all seasons are sincerely a treat… not only to our eyes but as well to are palates. … A Garden’s Delightful Edible Flours are plainly exquisite and when prepared and made for a meal they are simply superb.

Flours made from a garden’s flowers… I think we all are aware of what flour is, nonetheless, through my own adventures in the culinary world, including in my kitchen(s), I have created more than one version of a flour. Some of these flours, like others, are more re-fined than others, meaning some are finer and some are coarser, some are powders, or grains or crumbles. It depends on the flower I am using and what I am creating my flours for. My own thoughts on flour is, taking a food in its current version and making it into an ingredient I can add with other ingredients or use to decorate, garnish and sprinkle, etc. onto another food or beverage or onto a dish of one kind or another. Whether a flower or flour they can indeed make life quite floral… magnificent… and yummy… Natural Food Art Cafe, Garden Tea & Party, anyone… BIG SMILE…

We have the capacity and potential to always be a blessing in our own lives, in the lives of others and in this magical and magnificent world of ours…
