DANA RONDEL (HOME)… Interior Design & Art…

In May 2019 my family and I enjoyed a road trip to New York City for a weekend getaway. While there we visited The Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)… When at the Museum we were able to see their feature exhibit, Minimalism/Maximalism... The exhibition focused on celebrating 50 years of fashion… the evolution and traditionalism of clothing design… It was quite educational and inspiring to witness the melange of new and old ideas co-existing together in the same gallery, within a single article of clothing and within a cut of fabric… I was too intrigued by the thoughtfulness of ingenuity—what different materials could be used to create attire and accessories expressing both one’s unique personality and/or a way of life… Minimalism moved toward a simplistic view of self and/or the world… Maximalism gave life to an amalgam of presentations made into one story… As much as I would like to claim minimalism as a preferred aesthetic choice—I like to keep it simple—I happen to as well love the avant garde of maximalism—of mixed media or creative contrasts playing beautifully together…

As a Life Style Influencer, designer and artist… intuitive creativity is what inspires much of my makings… Feeling the mood of a material or space… spending time in conversation with the space and/or with other individuals…. and/or simply allowing for spontaneity in thought and imagination is essential for me… More than anything else… I am most influenced by being in the moment as an artist… When I designed each piece of my branded collection of hand knit wear, I received thoughtful style ideas from others. Ideas that charmed me… Ideas I could blend with my own whims to create a unique… one of a kind… piece of art… As each of my pieces were brought toward completion… I could feel what was in front of me would be something special—Beauty coming to life from creative thought, a delightful imagination and a fruitful heart…

Beauty coming to life from creative thought, a delightful imagination and a fruitful heart… This also makes me think of the art of HOME… HOME is a clean space… A lively space…. A vibrant space… An inviting space… welcoming fresh air… fresh energy… fresh ideas… fresh experiences… and more of what gives this space a sense of its own vitality… When I am in such a space… I truly do love to be in conversation with it… Learning it… Seeing its organic artistry… What is already present… What doesn’t need to be touched… What would love a bit more music… I love a space that can bring one easily to joyful and peaceful rest… and a space that lures one to happily sing and dance… I love a space that makes room for nostalgic recollections and at the same time novel mastery… I love a space that requires nothing at all to make it alluring… and a space equally beautiful because of how simply and well it lives with the added colors of life… Plainly… I love a space I can easily make into/my HOME…

I have begun my journey of making spaces… HOME… Some spaces I have already seen or imagined… Others I’ve not seen, yet their doors I know will usher me in… As I stand in each of these spaces, physically, virtually or imaginatively… a relationship between the space and me is being fostered… To consider this makes me smile… Mostly, because the time I spend in these spaces will be like time spent with a loved one or dear friend… I’ll get to ask the space provocative questions… and I am sure I will answer some too… One question might be… Should we add more color or less… Should colors be neutral or bright… Should we keep it simple… Or should we experiment with varied styles… designs… patterns… textures… What shapes should we consider… What is the best layout for this space… What will give this space more life… Of course, one of my answers will be… an artistic piece from the DANA RONDEL Interior Design & Art Collection… My smile just grew wider… Perhaps, the energy of the space will smile wider too…

Minimalism or maximalism… Every space, like fabric or clothing, presents to us its own way of being… its own story… It is not for me to tell a space’s story for it, but to listen to the story it is already telling me… In doing so, I get to share its natural treasures… I get to showcase its organic beauty… I get to gift each space with only what further enlivens and enhances an already splendid account of time… by simply adding design and art to the existing elements of time…

Speaking of time, it is said, Time makes for a HOME… I say, a HOME makes for Time… to live the goodness and richness of Life…  HOME… HOME… HOME… BIG SMILE…

We have the capacity and potential to always be a blessing in our own lives, in the lives of others and in this magical and magnificent world of ours…
